Travel insurance is required for participation in this tour and must include medical evacuation coverage. Families are not required to purchase EF’s Global Travel Protection Plan and may choose from the approved insurance options described below.

Because the plans provide different types and levels of protection, families should review the options and select the coverage that best meets their traveler’s needs. Families select their coverage; insurers determine claim eligibility.

Why Are Families Asked to Select From These Insurance Options?

To help keep emergency assistance and follow-up manageable for the group, families are asked to select from the approved insurance options listed on this page.

Limiting the group to these options helps the Group Leader and EF coordinate assistance and follow-up if a traveler needs to use their insurance during or after the trip, rather than navigating many different providers and policies.

What Insurance Options Are Available?

1. EF Global Travel Protection (EF-GTP) | $190

Consider this option if: You want pre-departure trip cancellation protection for covered reasons along with medical, evacuation, baggage, and travel-delay benefits.

• Includes pre-departure trip cancellation for covered reasons, such as a qualifying unexpected illness or accidental injury that medically prevents travel
• Includes up to $50,000 in medical coverage
• Includes up to $150,000 in emergency medical evacuation/repatriation
• Includes baggage, baggage-delay, trip-delay, emergency dental, and other travel-related benefits
• May be added later, no later than 60 days before departure
• Pre-existing-condition restrictions apply

Important: EF-GTP is not cancel-for-any-reason coverage. Claims are subject to policy terms, exclusions, and approval.

2. Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Global Solutions Platinum | Approximately $14–$28

Cost varies based on traveler age and selections.

Consider this option if: You want comprehensive, medical-focused international coverage with flexible options.

• Choose medical coverage of $50,000, $100,000, $500,000, or $1,000,000
• Choose a deductible of $0, $100, $250, or $500
• Platinum includes eligible pre-existing-condition coverage, subject to policy terms and exclusions
• Includes up to $500,000 in emergency medical transportation
• Includes access to an international provider network, with direct-payment arrangements available through participating providers

Not included: pre-departure trip cancellation, general trip delay, baggage delay, missed-connection coverage, or political/security/natural-disaster evacuation. Baggage coverage is more limited than the other options.

3. Travel Insured FlexiPAX | Approximately $18–$26

Cost varies based on traveler age and selections.

Consider this option if: You want customizable medical, evacuation, baggage, and travel-delay protection.

• Choose medical coverage of $100,000, $250,000, or $500,000
• Choose emergency medical evacuation/repatriation coverage of $500,000, $1,000,000, or $1,500,000, depending on the selected medical package
• Customize baggage, baggage-delay, and trip-delay coverage
• Includes missed-connection, emergency dental, and political/security/natural-disaster evacuation benefits

Not included with the option provided to our families: pre-departure trip cancellation or trip-interruption reimbursement based on the cost of the EF tour.
